"GOVERNOR'S
MESSAGE" We
are moving into our fall season with a number of activities planned to entice
all of our members to participate in our Lodge functions. Interbay 912 is the
place to be to enjoy yourself now and through the
holiday season. I
wish to thank everyone who participated and volunteered their services over
the summer. Without you, we would not have a successful Lodge. As always, I
ask for help at these functions so that we may share the burden and the
rewards of service to the Moose. I especially want to thank Tom Kilbane for coming forward and taking on some added
responsibilities. Tom, like many other of our brothers, observes a situation
and comes forward to “Get R Done.” Even
though it was the middle of summer, we had a full month of activities for
August. Thanks to Tim and Bob for representing the Lodge at the Boy Scout
Eagle Court of Honor – three Eagle Scouts in our Troop and one more
pending. Good job, Scouts! If
you missed Giuseppe, you missed a fun night with Morris. Hope you had his
roast pork on Thursday. Very delicious, Mo, thank you. Congratulations
to our dart players. Another successful State Tournament with more trophies
for our Lodge. Great job!! Thanks for representing Interbay 912. Plan
to attend our Labor Day picnic with all the usual food, fun and games along
with DJ Al providing the entertainment. This will be your last chance of the
year to win the The
District Meeting is Sunday, September 11, at the College
and Professional football kick off their seasons, so
come on down and watch your favorite teams on our big screen TV. Join in the
fun provided by being with your fellow Moose and cheering your team on to
victory. On
Saturday, September 24, we will have the ever popular Moose Races. Appetizer
buffet at Don’t
forget that Oktoberfest falls on Saturday, October 1. Make plans to attend
and enjoy a great international buffet and the music of the Lorelei Band.
Remember, the later the evening the better we all dance. If we have a good
turnout at October
also brings the State Convention to Tampa, and I am
sure Ed will be rounding up volunteers to help with all the things that needs
to be done. If you are available, please volunteer. With
all the activities planned in the upcoming months, I look forward to seeing
many of you at the Lodge. "I HAVE FUN AT
THE MOOSE !" |

"JR.
GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE” Q.
“How can I better my Family ?” A.
“Select an activity or function in which you have an interest and make a
commitment to donate your time and efforts towards making it
successful.” Your
Family operates successfully due to the work and dedication of various
committees that contribute daily towards accomplishing our many goals and
objectives. Membership in these committees is comprised of both Brothers and
Sisters of the Fraternity. While eligibility for membership in some (such as
the Moose Legion and Fellowship committees) require special qualifications,
eligibility in many others require only your willingness to serve and the
desire to work well with others towards achieving a common goal. Some
committees are so essential to the mission of our fraternity itself (known as
Standing and Special Committees) that they operate continuously, year after
year, and are governed under the General Laws of the Order. However, there
are many other committees, less formal in nature, that are formed for
specific purposes and exist only until their particular goals are fulfilled. Serving
on committees provides you the unique opportunity to exercise your special
talent and skills alongside others with similar interests and share the
spirit of good will and the elation that comes with success. If you agree
with this statement, then you’re probably ready to ask: “Okay,
then what is the first step towards joining a committee?” You’ve
already taken the first step by sparing the time to read this article and
recognizing your desire to participate. Next, you should talk to your fellow
members and find out what committees they currently serve on or have served
on in the past. You can also reference the inside cover of this newsletter
for ideas. Many of the committees listed there would gladly welcome new
members. Regardless of what committee(s) you choose to support, the
contributions you make will have a positive impact on your overall success as
a "I HAVE FUN AT

"ADMINISTRATOR'S
MESSAGE" On July 11, I met
with a contractor to prepare an agenda and an estimated cost to complete
Phase 3 of the Social Quarters remodel project. He will present both items to
me before the July 26 General Meeting. At this meeting, the Board of Officers
will vote on the proposal and then it will be brought to the General
Membership for a vote. The proposed agenda will be done in three stages, with
the project to be completed in approximately one month. Also, the
Entertainment Committee has purchased a 1995 NSMC CD Jukebox complete with
100 CDs, a new $5 bill accepter and one year warranty on all parts and
service at a cost of $2,300. At this time, the Jukebox has accumulated a net
profit of $2,308.50, so there is no actual cost to the Lodge. I have fun at
the Moose! "I HAVE FUN AT

“PRELATE'S
CORNER" The Lodge is still in need of an individual to step
forward for the position of Prelate. The nominating box will be on the display
case in the foyer. The Nominating Committee should be on the alert to meet to
discuss any possible candidates. Also, I would like the Nominating Committee
to come in on Tuesday, August 16 and August 30, at "I HAVE FUN AT
THE MOOSE !"

"HISTORIAN
REPORT" April 1992 –
April finds the Easter Bunny coming, and on April 18 the Lodge held an Easter
Egg Hunt for all the kids who signed up. As usual, there were prizes and lots
of good things to eat, as well as the usual hot dogs and hamburgers. John
Peterson gave up the thankless job of being Editor of the bulletin, a job he
had for the last few years. Dennis Ginn replaced
him. Also it’s that time of year again to elect new officers. The
election was held on April 14. Results later. Outgoing Governor, Ray Duran,
thanked many for the help he received during the past year; Walt Shaffer,
Administrator, for keeping the books and running the Social Quarters; Ed Lessard for running the Entertainment Committee and many
of the Saturday night dances; Cork Mitchell as Moose Legion Chairman; Al Casel as Ritual Chairman; John Peterson and wife Mini for
producing the bulleting; Bob Stellges and Elinor Beam for great children’s parties; Herman Ronzinger for work on our patio, women’s office,
and storeroom; Larry Witt and crew for preparing our Convention dinners;
Diana Jacobson for serving most diners; and last of all to his wife, Linda,
for preparing most of his dinners on Fridays. Deborah Miller, outgoing Sr.
Regent, thanked all who helped her and a special thanks to Joan Clune who organized the very successful variety show and
dinner. I counted 16 ads in the bulletin which helped defray the cost of
producing the bulletin. Below is worth repeating. All should read and heed.
We definitely need more active members in our Lodge. TO KILL YOUR LODGE 1. Always have something else to do on
meeting and convention dates. 2. If you attend a meeting, be sure to find
fault with officers and fellow members. 3. Decline to hold office, as it is easier
to criticize than to be criticized. 4. Get sore if you are not put on a
committee. 5. If you are put on a committee, fail to
serve. 6. If the chairman asks for opinions, by all
means keep silent, but later tell others what should have been done. 7. When a few members fold up their sleeves
to help things along, always preach that a clique is running the Lodge. 8. Stick to telling what you have done in
the past for the Lodge. Never look to the future. 9. Delay paying your dues as long as
possible and never answer any requests. 10. Never bother about new members, let someone
else to it. March 1992 –
The Lodge celebrated their 18th birthday on March 14th
with a Special Enrollment. Governor Ray Duran thanked the WOTM for having a
fantastic Valentine Candlelight dinner which was the most successful night of
the year. A big band night (five piece) was announced for March 28th
with strip steak being served for a price of $8.50 for advanced tickets. The
results of the Variety Show on February 21st were described by the
Editor. “All who participated or attended the show had a great time,
and it was called one of the best events in a long time.” February 1992
– The results for the kiddies’ Christmas Party were announced.
Ninety-six were present out of 107 signed up. Donations for the party were
numerous, with about one-third of the Lodge contributing something. Anyone
who signed up a Moose Legionnaire was given $7 in Moose bucks. MLC Chairman January 1992 –
The WOTM held a Chinese Auction and Dinner on January 10th with
donated items used for the auction. Joan Clune
organized a big variety show and dinner for February 21st. The MLC
was still cooking Sunday morning breakfast. Most Friday night dinners were
one-item menus. Dues were increased from $30 to $35 a year effective December 1991
– It’s Christmas time again. The Adult Christmas Party was held
on December 20th, and the Annual Children’s Christmas party
was held on December 21st. Both were a great success. Ray Duran, Governor,
thanked everyone for all of the help given by the volunteers during the State
convention. A Bake November 1991
– Walt Shaffer announced that a Moose Legionnaire sponsor will win a
Life Membership at the Ceremonial to be held in December at the St.
Petersburg lodge. The booster list, those that contribute $5 a year to help
defray the cost of producing our bulletin, had grown to 102 members. Ed Lessard, Entertainment Chairman, had booked the Cross
Country Band six nights during the month. On Sunday, footfall, hamburgers and
French fries would be served for only $2.50 and on Monday night football, hotdogs would be “free.” What a lineup
– October 1991 –
The Labor Day Picnic help in September was a great success. Then on October
11, Herman Ranzinger and Linda A. Baird put on the
annual Oktoberfest with music by the Treble Clefs. The Lodge funded a drive
for membership with prizes of Moose Bucks to be awarded as follows: First -
$25; Second - $15; Third - $10; and Fourth through Thirteenth - $5. On October 19, there
was the Children’s Halloween Party ran by Eleanor Beam and Bob Stelleges, Chairman. Deborah Miller (Sr. Regent) and Ray
Duran (Governor) reminded members that new members needed to sign up not for
just quotas, but to make up for those that are in arrears and are dropped. The winners of the
Men’s Monday Night Pool League challenged the winners of the
Women’s Tuesday Night Pool League to a playoff of the Lodge
Championship that pitted Ginny Rulleage and Barbara
Riggs against Ray Duran and Ed Lessard. I
won’t say who won, but I don’t think the men will let their
mouths overload their rear ends again. June – July
1991: Governor Duran thanked Larry Witt and crew for an outstanding job in
preparing the dinners for the State Mid-Year Conference. He also thanked the
waitresses, van drivers, ticket sellers, etc., for their help. On
Mother’s Day we had a good crowd for Sunday breakfast. Of course, all
mothers ate for free. We had 15 ads in the bulletin, which helped defray the
cost of printing. On Walt Schaffer
reported that the Lodge membership had approved closing in part of the patio
for a storage area. Our Lodge hosted the Moose Legion Ceremonial on June 1
and 2. On July 20 we held a yard sale with tables renting for $5. August –
September 1991: Walt Schaffer reported on cars being stolen from our Lodge
parking lot. More lighting, TV cameras and monitors were approved by the
membership and the trees and shrubbery were cut back. All the Fellows
organized work parties to pressure wash and paint the outside of the
building. Larry Witt and John Hunt pressure washed half the building during a
driving thunder and lightning storm, while Walt, John Nelms,
Cork Mitchell, Bernie Cummings, and Bud White filled up pot holes, trimmed
trees and bushes, and fetched paint and supplies for the painters. Bill Schade, Herman Ranzinger, Jim
Clark, Ray Duran, and Henry McGill, Jr., were the paint crew. Bill Schade became so overheated he couldn’t eat, but
went out and painted some more. Linda Mitchell and Diana Jacobson cleaned the
inside and outside of the kitchen cabinets and served the food prepared by
Winnie Hunt. All the workers appreciated the food. Ed Lessard
was doing a good job as Entertainment and Sports Chairman. A special
enrollment was held in honor of Pilgrim Brother Jim Clark on September 14,
and his Pilgrim dinner was held on September 15 following his ceremonial. International raised
the dues of the Moose Legion by $2.50 to help offset the increased medical
expenses for the Senior residents at Moosehaven. Dues
became $12.50 per year with the $2.50 going directly to Moosehaven.
Al Casey, ritual chairman, announced there are now ten ritualists:
Bud White, Bernie Cummings, Henry McGill, John Hunt, Bob Stelges,
Ken Browning, Marty Hiott, Steve Silverson, Al Kozak and Al Casey. Deborah Miller, Senior Regent,
thanked the ladies who helped her on all the women’s projects and asked
for further help during the State Convention in October. She also asked the
WOTM members to take the lead in reducing the gossips and rumors that lead to
hard feelings among the members and co-workers. All complaints should be
taken to either the WOTM or LOOM Board of Officers. Linda Duran reported that
dues for A/F will be $12, Collegians will be $14, Star Recorders will be $14,
and Collegians with Star Record Degrees will be $16. International will send
the dues notices. Sept. – Oct.
1990: Pete Troxel, Governor, thanked everybody for
the donations and hard work on building our patio roof on Sept. 15th. The Labor Day picnic
was a huge success. The Fellowship dinner on the 7th of Sept. was
also a huge success The Lodge members pitched in and donated many items for
an auction held on Oct 21st. Bob Stellges,
Chairman, thanked Brother Pete Tracey for furnishing the hot dogs and buns
for the Children's parties for the recent years. He even played the organ for
their entertainment. On Oct. 19th,
the Lodge had their annual Octoberfest hosted by
Herman Ranzinger and Matt Bridges. It was a big
success and along with funds raised by other activities and donations, the
patio will be completed at a cost of over $6,000. One fund-raiser was tacos
on Saturday put on by Sr. Regent Jean Troxel and
crew. Linda Baird received her Green cap at the State Convention in Chairman Bob Stellges and Elinor Beam put on
the Children's Halloween party on October 27th. Nice job done, as
usual. Dec. – Jan. 1990:
The new patio was finished and was celebrated with a Dinner and Dance held on
Dec 16th. The Children's
Christmas party was held on Dec 22nd and the Adult's party was the
night before on the 21st. At Jan saw a slowdown
in activities, The WOTM, Chapter 1254, hosted a Rally Day on Jan 13th.
This is where Chapters got together and share parts in doing the Ritual. Then
on Sunday Jan 27th, the Lodge held their annual Super Bowl Party
with plenty of snacks. This concluded a very busy three months at Interbay
912. "I HAVE FUN AT
